Sustainable food is food that is healthy for consumers and produced in an humane, environmentally friendly, socially responsible and economically fair way. That's a wide range of criteria, but true sustainability goes beyond just reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
HUMANE
A humane person is one who shows great compassion and caring for others, including animals, and who tries whenever possible to prevent another's suffering.
ENVIRONMENTALLY Friendly
All the physical surroundings on Earth are called the environment. The environment includes everything living and everything nonliving. ... People, animals, plants, and all other living things rely on the nonliving parts of the environment to survive. We have to look after the environment ( or be friendly ) so that it looks after us well into the future.
Socially Responsible
Social responsibility is a duty every individual has to perform so that we maintain a balance between the economy and the ecosystems. Some people in the world are hungry...others waste tons of food every day..this is not BALANCED.
